Handle with care

Every part is loaded with needle-shaped crystals that cause immediate, severe burning in the mouth if chewed, along with swelling of the lips, tongue and throat. The pain is its own deterrent, so serious poisoning is rare, but it is a genuinely nasty thing for a child to bite.
