Deep indigo-blue hooded flowers on tall spikes in late summer. One of the few genuinely blue flowers that grows in shade.
Every part of this plant is highly poisonous, and its toxin can pass through skin. Wear gloves to plant, cut, or divide it, and wash your hands afterwards. Never site it where the root could be mistaken for an edible one.
